I delivered a presentation about my work at Bronte Public School today to a class of 10-11 year old students. The students had been given a project to choose an artist and give a 5 – 10 minute power point presentation about that artist’s work. I was very flattered that young Celty Sharp chose to write about me and he asked if I would be his “living” power point presentation. I have spoken about my work in schools and university’s before but never have I received so many thoughtful questions about my work and such a quiet and focused young audience. They seemed genuinely interested and engaged with the images and ideas I was talking about and I must say that Celty had done his research and introduced me like a true professional. I believe the experience was a mutually rewarding one.
It has got me thinking about perhaps writing and illustrating a children’s book that addresses some of the contradictory ways that we relate to and treat other animals.
In the meantime, here is an image of my most recently completed work.
