It’s now February and I am happily back in drawing mode as of 2014. I have completed my first commission for the year – a mixed media work on paper titled ‘Fair Play” for my father and his partner in New Zealand. The format is 50 x 150 cm and as I usually work in something much closer to a square format, this proved an interesting challenge for me. Fortunately these dimensions were just within the size restrictions for posting the tube from Munich to New Zealand so the artwork is now on its way to a new home. I had previously thought that my works on paper could not be posted due to the collage components but now I realise this is not a problem if they are not rolled too tightly. Upon arrival at their home destination, they would simply need to be flattened under weights for about a week prior to framing. Happily this opens up possibilities for future commissions…and in fact I have 2 more to produce for another fabulous New Zealand home before the end of the year.
And to encourage my 2014 drawing project I had some exciting news last week! – I discovered a couple of my artworks on the wall in an article about a gorgeous home in Australia’s popular “Inside Out” magazine. http://www.homelife.com.au/homes/galleries/renovated+eco+family+home+,28079?pos=3#pagetop. This magazine has previously also written an article about my work (2010) which can be found on my website. I wonder if they might like to do a follow-up story – 4 years on – in 2014?…
